PabloJeans Blurday

Hey Ho Fiddly Dee,
PabloJean turned 51 yesterday.

Caitlin & Jackson decorated the front porch and dug out, party hats, whistles, bubble blowers and poppers. A good time was had by all!!!

I found a Sticky Date Pudding Birthday cake - with a side dish of caramel sauce mmm mmm mmm. Father was veeeeery impressed. His favourite dessert as his birthday cake - What could be better than that *G*

Trixiebelle joined in the festivities... not having any cake as she is still on a diet but she managed to keep her hat on for a good 10 minutes. Actually, I think it took that amount of time for her to realise that she was wearing one LOL.

Here's the piccies... ... ...

Trixiebelle

This would have to be the most shocking photograph of the Ding Dong that I have ever seen. It looks like a snarl - gruesome and threatening but in reality, is the end of a yawn. How pathetic... Here's another piccie of the Beloved Dog looking winsome...

Tomato season - Caringbah NSW

G'day,

Especially G'day to my girly - Jessica B. Now Ms B, I have to share with you the photo's of a bumper crop of tomatoes- planted by you, nurtured by Us, now scoffed by many

They would have to be the most perfectly proportioned miniature, and I mean really, really small tomatoes. As a scale indicator I added a Pea and a grain of rice to give some clarity of size LOLOL.

So, now that we have established the size of our bountiful crop here's piccies of the volume of it... The hand and photography belong to Caitlin...

Memory Boxes

Here's the latest in my artistic forays. These are Memory Boxes. They are gifts from artists to parents who lose babies in hospital. This sadly necessary charity was formed in USA but now has artists from all over the globe contributing to their local communities in the best way that they know how. Through their art. If you would like to read more about this labour of love visit the website: www.teraleigh.com/memoryboxes/

Myself and friends get together on the first Sunday of each month and eat, paint, drink (coffee / tea) and sort out the worlds problems for the memory box program. When we leave our hostesses house we aim to leave as many completed boxes for donation to our local hospitals as possible. I decided to get a little ahead and completed these three. Hope you like them... ...

This lovely Platypus is a design from the book Australian Animals by Kate Broadfoot. I like to use memory boxes to practise new patterns on. This one worked out well and will be so much easier to paint the second time around.

These two mates are from the Australian design Book of Whimsy. Such adorable friends to watch over such precious memories.

Bubbles the Fish & Jacks Boats

Welcome Bubbles the Fish. She is the last of the fabric covered canvas block trio painted for Sandra's girls. I love her lips and her Brilliant Magenta background. It's hard to see it here but her green scales have opal dust on them to really capture the colours of the rainbow. She was inspired by the childrens book - The Rainbow Fish. A favourite of my own children.

This 40cm x 50cm tissue covered canvas block is for Jackson's bedroom wall. It is commissioned by the recipient and how could any mother / artist resist a commission from her only son. : )

It is a watercolour technique painted using Matisse flow acrylics from a Sue Raccanello design. I painted this restful piece in just an evening. While Pablo concentrated on the State of Origin (Rugby League) I cranked up the air conditioning to 30 degrees celcius to ensure the paint dried fast and finished with this. Jack and I are very happy with it.

Harriet McClucky and Pal

Here is Harriet McClucky. My latest creation for Sandra Leslies brood. I am about to add a fish to this duet this weekend and will share that fellow with you all then. The Dog beside her is another Lorraine Dick design but Harriet is all Mine. There's just a bit of fiddling to do before she finished.

ANZAC DAY Message

Okay,
I am taking the bull by the horns and will try this, my first ever post. Hmmmm? What to write about. Well, today is ANZAC day in Australia & New Zealand. A very special day for us and one especially for my family. My darling husband is in the RAN and has served in a few Tours overseas to keep our country safe. Here's a photograph of Pablo in his winter uniform. Don't ask what the medals all represent - he could tell you at a glance but they are lost on me. They do, however, earn him free schooners of lager at the local Returned Servicemens Club as others ask him to tell his stories.
Whew! This wasn't so hard... Now that I am over my initial fright I want to share some of my paitings with you... You might be sorry that I have shaken off my fear of blogging LOLOL...
DJ's POPPIES
Here's my latest creation... Not my design but certainly my interpretation of this amazing artists' (Lorraine Dick - Thuril NSW) work. It is a 30 cm x 60 cm acrylic paintings titled simply: "Poppies". This painting now proudly lives on my bedroom wall.
Hey, this is fun!!! Just a couple more... I'm going to share / bore you with photo's of my own work. Then I'm off to find my GeeBee friends and to figure out how to add their blog links to my page.
Frangipani's painted for my 13 year old daughter Caitlin to give as a birthday gift. Her friend Tayla loved it....
Turkish Blue... Inspired by Turkish Porcelain Plate...

This is Lovie my own teddy bear design. She is painted mainly with a liner brush. She is a shaggy long hair teddy painted for the photo album of our newest family member: Charlotte Wilkins... Lovie is also painted on a Treasure Box (Cream) and on a memory box (Pink)

Thanks for visiting with me today... I'll hopefully see you next time. Love DJ
